CWSP Remote Work Examples

Following are examples of remote work being performed by Cristo Rey schools across the network.

  • Compliance and PD modules required by their company for employees

  • Excel projects

  • Creating new class schedules and spreadsheets of contact information for professors and/or key staff (University)

  • Marketing research projects (online)

  • Building google forms/surveys (part of research)

  • IT assistance for university employees

  • One workplace sends a google sheet around the office and has employees enter projects that they need support with that student-workers can do

  • Designing electronic binders; organizing and compiling e-handbooks (Energy company)

  • Reviewing online educational resources and offering comments on content and user-design from target audience (youth) perspective (Government agency)

  • Researching and writing project proposals, including gallery connector-space ideas for current museum exhibits (Arts & Culture organization)

  • Writing articles or blog posts on intern experience (Financial firm)

  • Writing up isolation protocol for lab procedures for future employees (Engineering lab)

  • Conducting literature review on pertinent topics for next virtual team meeting (University administration)

  • Process underwriters submissions; research companies requesting insurance policies.

  • Data entry (updating price changes for supplies/vendors; Salesforce data; tracking attendance and grading for non-profit)

  • Continuing a project on product concept that reduces rates of misdiagnosis and medical error

  • Completing a PowerPoint presentation on walk, bike, and transit benefits

  • Storing contracts in the new contract management repository

  • Developing training manuals and documents for future CWSP students and completing online professional develop coursework

  • Online research:

    • Some have research projects based on ongoing company needs

    • Others are researching responses to COVID-19 in various industries, travel, company policies, etc.

    • Others have a specific project on like 'find out what X number of companies do to celebrate this cultural event' on a particular CSR team or 'here's a list of schools - map which councilperson's district they are in', etc.

  • Data entry

  • Data analysis

  • Internal communications work - staff newsletters, blog posts, etc.

  • Coding/CS/Dev projects - couple of students have spent much of the year learning a programming language and had JUST recently launched into actual projects to apply their skills so we're working to get those up and running again

  • E-filing

  • Updating frequently used materials (slide decks & other marketing or sales tools; org charts; templates) for teams - looking at info from multiple sources and plugging updated info in or cleaning up formatting

  • A full team of students are reviewing grantee reports and summarizing the information for an upcoming advisory committee. These notes will also be given to the board of a large not-for-profit organization. (Submitted by Holly Hankins, OKC)

  • Website building- Update and edit website content, and pages. Students assist with website updates for a company who manages federally funded research and development centers supporting several U.S. government agencies. (Scientific Organization) (Submitted by Gelynn Hurt, Washington DC)

  • Spreadsheet and Database Updates – Collect and organize data for reports and meetings. (Nonprofit) (Submitted by Gelynn Hurt, Washington DC)

  • Social Media- Analyzes data to gauge the success of campaigns, such as frequency/volume of posts, and performance of posts. (Architecture) (Submitted by Gelynn Hurt, Washington DC)

  • Research and drafting proposals - continued research on scientific data. (NASA) (Submitted by Gelynn Hurt, Washington DC)

  • Generate specific data reports- Generate the developer task report and send individual reminders. Test an ISAT script and generate test case execution reports. (Aviation) (Submitted by Gelynn Hurt, Washington DC)
